Refinishing cabinets is a good alternative to replacing all of your cabinets. If you are on a tight budget, refinishing your doors may be a simple way to get a new look without the expense of replacing all of your cabinets or doors. All you need to do is take off your doors and bring them to one of our showrooms. We take care of the rest. When they are ready for pickup, we'll give you a call and you can come and get them.
As with all custom work, there are some exceptions: We can only refinish what you can be taken down and brought into our factory; We do not do on-site refinishing. This means that if you have face-frame cabinets (your cabinets have wooden frames surrounding the doors), then you'll have to refinish the frames yourself. We will be more than happy to supply extra stain and show you how to properly apply it to the frames.
In addition, if your doors are oak wood and you wish to change the color, you will have to choose a very dark stain. Since oak wood has such a heavy grain, your existing stain will "bleed" through and still be visible in the grain of the wood unless you choose a dark stain.
If you're happy with your kitchen layout but just want to change your doors, we can do that too. Every one of our door styles is available in custom sizes, so you're sure to get exactly the right size doors. We can also add some new cabinetry to supplement your existing cabinets, or install drawers into cabinets which previously had none.
If your existing cabinets are face-frame construction (the hinges are visible from the outside), there can be many variables involved in refacing cabinets. We highly recommend that our face-frame customers arrange for one of our refacing experts to perform a site visit to take all the necessary measurments and provide an accurate estimate. We charge a small retainer fee for this service, however if you place an order with us after you receive your estimate, this fee will be credited towards your order.
If your existing cabinets are a European style (hidden hinges), then refacing is super easy. You can simply measure all of your doors and drawer fronts, bring in the list of measurements, and we can give you a quote for the doors. If you are not confident enough in your measurements, you can drop your doors off at our Port Coquitlam factory and we can measure them for you. Alternatively, you can arrange for a refacing expert to visit your home and take proper measurements for a small retainer fee.
Lastly, we can provide full installation and removal services for anyone who can't do it themselves. Our professional installers can come to your home, remove all your doors and drawer fronts, install the new doors, drawer fronts, trims, panels, and mouldings whereever necessary. Although we always strive to complete any refacing job as flawless as possible, please be aware that due to the custom nature of refacing cabinets, results may vary. Please consult with one of our experienced salespersons to see if refacing cabinets is the right choice for you.
